Jive’s Installation

Jive uses a cloud PBX-based platform. The main component that allows Jive’s VoIP business system to be extremely successful is that it interconnects, or interlaces, the public Internet and the telephone network. This allows companies to place both voice and video calls directly from their Internet-connected telephones.

Jive expert staff works individually with companies to meet their specific needs, which may include customized platforms, infrastructure and installation procedures.

Jive’s platform is based on x86 hardware. This virtual system operates as a true cloud-based computing environment. Jive’s configuration is simple, allowing users and clients to manage call reports, analytics, call flows and administer all changes to individual accounts.

Companies that wish to switch their telecommunications services to a VoIP hosted system are required to have basic network devices and components. This includes Power over Ethernet switches, which allows for a centralized power point of redundancy. Other requirements include DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration), NAT (Network Address Translation), QoS (Quality of Service) and Public IP Addresses.

Firewalls may require customized configurations to allow Jive to work properly, but companies should keep in mind that their firewalls would still block harmful viruses. Firewall configurations include NAT connections, HTTP, SIP, RTP and NTP.

Jive also requires a certain bandwidth in order for their services to perform properly. Dial-up, satellite internet connections and standard wireless systems are not supported by Jive’s platform. Voice call bandwidth is required to be approximately 90 kbps. They also offer Class-of-Service Prioritization features, which enables companies to prioritize voice and video calls over other network traffic.

Reliability issues depend on latency, jitter and packet loss. Jive works with companies to ensure product reliability and helps IT professionals set up large-scale systems, in addition to offering technical support to small companies.

Installation is simple, and Jive breaks it down into two components:

  • Pre-Setup – This type of setup is complete within 30 to 60 days prior to installation, which ensures a smooth transition. This phase includes number porting, Broadband Internet, device configuration, physical support, facility checks and network configuration.
  • Setup – While Jive experts complete most of these tasks remotely, the installation does require installation of end points, test end points, test system configuration.
