In today's world, the ability of your computer's operating system (OS) to understand phone numbers and call them from wherever you are is a saving grace – but only if your OS calls the right dialer!
For years on my Mac, I've been frustrated by seeing a multitude of phone numbers – and while they're able to be clicked and dialed – doing so launches FaceTime. Probably not the application we're looking for, right? But not anymore! Now, GoToConnect desktop can be enabled as your default dialer application. To get started, follow these simple steps:
- Install the GoToConnect desktop application. You must have the desktop version to enable GoToConnect as the default dialer of your OS. It will not work with the web version.
- Test the application by having it call your cell phone number. Once you find success, you're ready to follow instructions for Mac or Windows, depending on your computer's OS.
That's it! You're now ready to click and call to your heart's content.
Where else does it work?
Default Dialer works anywhere the phone number is in a 'tel:nnn-nnn-nnnn' format. Some tried-and-true places include Microsoft Outlook, Slack, and your Google Chrome browser.
