Network Requirements

GoToConnect Powered by Jive works anywhere you do business. To ensure you have the best experience, use the following guidelines.

Internet Connection

Internet Service Provider

GoToConnect requires a valid broadband Internet connection to make and receive calls. GoToConnect does not provide an Internet connection. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for information regarding your Internet connection.


Each call on GoToConnect requires approximately 100kbps of Internet bandwidth (both upload and download). For reference, broadband internet is currently defined as one that offers at minimum:

  • Download Speed: 25 Mbps
  • Upload Speed: 3 Mbps

Using 3 Mbps (or 3000 kpbs), you can make up to 30 concurrent calls at any given time. However, in many cases other devices and GoToConnect share bandwidth, effectively reducing the amount of concurrent calls possible on your network.

Business offices typically have internet speeds that exceed minimum broadband requirements. Please contact your Internet Service Provider to ensure your bandwidth meets the minimum requirements for your needs.


Network Hardware for Office Deployments


GoToConnect desk phones are network devices which require a business-class router with a broadband internet connection. Each phone must be issued an IP address from the router (not modem) via DHCP.

LogMeIn recommends an Ethernet Switch capable of QoS (Quality of Service) be placed between GoToConnect and your router. A QoS switch helps ensure high-quality audio during calls.


Many routers include a firewall which protects your network from malicious Internet traffic. Your firewall should allow your GoToConnect phones to access HTTP, HTTPS, and UDP traffic on your network. Please contact your network IT professional for help in configuring your firewall.

Recommended Hardware

The number of routers/firewalls that will work with GoToConnect are too expansive to list. However, there are some practical recommendations that LogMeIn can make based on personal experience and testing.

It should be noted that our recommendations can be purchased directly from LogMeIn for that very reason – we know they work well with our service.

Get Instant Network Insight

Jive View will flag any key info you need, including:

  • Key voice quality metrics: Jive View provides multiple data points for ensuring voice quality.
  • SIP ALG: Is this router setting, which can cause issues, currently enabled?
  • SIP ports: Are the ports required for communication currently open on your network?
  • NAT settings: Are there are potential problems with network address traversal?
