At GoTo Guatemala, career progress is personal and multidimensional. Whether our people advance into new roles, deepen their expertise, build new skills, or find innovative ways to make an impact, growth happens in many directions. You’ll learn how curiosity, collaboration, and open communication have shaped the distinct journeys of three GoGetters from Guatemala—demonstrating that opportunity here is as diverse as our people and ambitions.

Gabriela Mendez: Seizing Opportunities & Expanding Impact

“My career at GoTo has truly been an adventure,” says Gabriela, whose curiosity and drive define her story. She began in the ITSG Access area as an L1 agent—a role where she quickly dove deep, mastering technical skills and troubleshooting. But Gabriela’s ambition didn’t stop there. Drawn to new challenges, she volunteered for cross-functional product testing, collaborating with product and engineering teams to improve services for customers.

“Stepping into sales from a technical support background was a leap,” Gabriela admits. “I had zero sales experience, but with encouragement from people at GoTo, I felt empowered to take it on.” That lateral move required a whole new mindset—learning about customers, solutions, negotiation, and market dynamics. “Applying my technical experience in customer conversations helped me understand their needs more deeply, which made me more confident and creative.”

Gabriela continues to seek growth in all directions; She recently led efforts during a product merger, driving collaboration and sharing technical insights with her new team. “What I appreciate most about GoTo is that growth isn’t defined by climbing a ladder—it’s about broadening your skills, building new connections, and making a meaningful impact, however you grow.”

David Garcia: Evolving, Mentoring, Mastering

For David Garcia, career progress has meant constant evolution—sometimes upward, sometimes sideways, always forward. “When I joined GoTo, I started in Technical Support and progressed from Tier 1 to Tier 3, mastering complex troubleshooting. But as I grew, I realized I enjoyed sharing knowledge and helping others succeed.”

David made a lateral move into training, developing onboarding programs for new hires and working closely with other teams on process improvements. “Designing learning paths for different teams was a challenge; it pushed me to communicate more clearly and collaborate with people outside my usual circle.” As a GoTo Trainer, David mentored dozens of colleagues, seeing their development as a measure of his own growth.

Later, David transitioned to the Field Engineering Team, where hands-on work and problem-solving reignited his passion. “That wasn’t a promotion—it was a shift back to the kind of challenges I love.” Now, as a Senior Field Engineer and manager, he draws on skills built every step of the way. “For me, career progress means mastering new skills, supporting others, and staying engaged. Every lateral move has made me better at finding solutions and connecting with my team.”

Pablo Chaperno: From Curiosity to Leadership and Beyond

Pablo Chaperno’s journey began with a question: “What else can I learn?” He started as a Level 1 tech support agent, focused on becoming an expert in his product area. But his curiosity led him to join a sales pilot program, a move that was less about climbing the ladder and more about broadening his skill set—and his view of the business.

“It was an unconventional move, but I discovered that I love solving customer challenges and building relationships,” Pablo says. As he grew into his new role, he embraced mentorship, seeking guidance from leaders across departments, each helping him build confidence and agility with new ideas. Pablo later took on cross-functional projects, partnering with marketing and product teams to develop new campaigns and solutions.

Now leading a sales team, Pablo feels that his multidimensional growth helps him support his direct reports’ journeys—whether that’s building technical skills, exploring new business areas, or finding unique ways to contribute. “Growth at GoTo isn’t a straight path. The company’s open-door culture helped me, and now I encourage my team to take risks, connect across the organization, and define success for themselves.”

Open Doors, Real Conversations

What links these journeys is the openness to opportunity and the willingness to ask questions, offer help, and seek guidance. Gabriela, David, and Pablo each point to honest conversations and a culture of trust as key elements to growing—not just changing roles but developing as people.

“As soon as my work started to feel routine, my leaders challenged me with new projects, and that reignited my passion for learning,” David shares. Gabriela reminds others, “Don’t be afraid to approach someone. Conversations unlock opportunities you may not have imagined.”

Pablo sums it up, “Mentorship made all the difference for me—every role, every project, every idea benefited from the support and encouragement of the GoTo community. Sometimes growth means exploring new areas, sometimes it’s mastering what you love, and sometimes it’s helping your team succeed.”
