Zero Trust Network Access
Based on explicitly defined access control criteria, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), is an IT security solution that offers safe remote access to an organization's applications, data, and services.
Zero Trust Network Access ensures that no user or device is automatically trusted, regardless of their location or network environment. When a user attempts to access the network or specific applications, it will verify their identity, and ensure that only authorized individuals can proceed. It also verifies the device used by the user to ensure it meets security standards. It checks for up-to-date operating systems, security patches, and compliance with organizational policies. If the device is deemed insecure or non-compliant, access may be denied or limited.
Once the user and device are authenticated, Zero Trust Network Access enforces granular access controls. It evaluates factors such as user roles, device type, location, and time of access to determine the level of access granted. This approach ensures that users have access only to the specific applications and resources they need, minimizing potential risks. Hence ZTNA establishes encrypted tunnels between the user's device and the network or applications. This ensures that data remains confidential and secure, even when transmitted over public networks.
