Coconut oil, or copra oil, is an edible oil extracted from the kernel or meat of mature coconuts harvested from the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera).
Add some moisture to dry hair, especially in the winter with a coconut oil mask. Work a small amount into your hair, pile it onto your head, cover with a shower cap (or put a towel on your pillow), then gently shampoo in the morning.
Use coconut oil straight or whip it up like facial moisturizer with a few drops of essential oils for a different scent and you have an easy and natural body lotion.
When you whip coconut oil it becomes really creamy. Add safe essential oils or just straight lemon or lime juice for an easy, natural face moisturizer.
There are several ways you can use coconut oil if the sun gets the best of you. Mix it with aloe vera and apply to the affected area or soothe it over your burn and follow with apple cider vinegar several times a day. Both help the burn heal faster and moisturizes while soothing.
Beach waves are very popular all year long, but especially in the summer. Mix one cup of hot water with one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of kosher sea salt, put into a spray bottle and you have your own sea salt spray that won't dry out your hair. Spray liberally to damp or dry hair and scrunch to achieve swoon-worthy waves.
Straight up rub coconut oil on your legs instead of shaving cream or mix it with melted shea butter (or mango butter if you have a latex issue) and whip it.
Got tough-to-remove makeup, or just want a wipe that is affordable and natural? Swipe some coconut oil on a cotton swab or pad and use it to take off all your makeup before bed. It cleans and moisturizes at once!
