Mourning led the Hornets to their first two playoff appearances in franchise history, but when he wouldn't commit to a contract extension, Miami was eager to make a deal. 2006 NBA Finals

After overcoming kidney disease in the early 2000's, Mourning returned to the Heat as a valuable reserve.

SF Glen Rice

Despite only spending three seasons with the Hornets, Rice made a meaningful impact. He averaged 23.5 points per game overall and led the team in scoring during both 1996-97 (54 wins) and 1997-98 (51 wins), the two most successful regular seasons Charlotte has ever had.

Trade's Legacy

The Heat parted with some pretty valuable assets, but they would certainly do the exact same thing again. Mourning's uniform No. 33 is now retired by the team and in retirement, he's still involved in their front office.
