The MBTI is one of the most widely used tools in assessing personality and behaviors. It was created by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers.

The MBTI was created using Carl Jung's theory that there are 4 principal psychological functions that are used to perceive the world and each person is dominated by one of these functions most of the time. The 4 types are considered to be a scale from one type to another (extroversion and introversion, for example). The combinations of the types determine the person's personality with there being 16 combinations of types.
