Primary Colors

The three primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. These colors are primary because they cannot be made using any other colors.

Secondary Colors

The secondary colors are purple, green, and orange. They are secondary because each of these colors can be made by mixing two of the primary colors. The combinations are as follows: Red + Yellow = Orange Red + Blue = Purple Yellow + Blue = Green

Tertiary Colors

Tertiary colors are made by mixing a primary color and a secondary color. For instance, mixing Red and Orange creates Red-Orange, and so on.
The names for tertiary colors are a hypenated combination of the two colors used to created the new color

Complementary Colors

Colors that are considered complimentary are found opposite each other on the color wheel. When used together in design, they can create a visually appealing look.
When complimentary colors are mixed together, they create different shades of brown.
