In 1992 Hurricane Andrew was the most destructive hurricane that had existed up to that point. I was in middle school in nearby New Iberia when it hit, and its destruction throughout South Louisiana left many people devastated. The roof was completely ripped off of my school, and we didn't go back to classes for many months.
