What is Celiac Disease?

Many people confuse celiac disease with being sensitive to gluten. While gluten is the root cause for both celiac and gluten allergies, they are not the same thing. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that is caused when a person eats gluten. It's not the same as having a food allergy, resulting in different symptoms than what are experienced by someone who has a gluten sensitivity, or allergy.
