With the recent news that a fourth "Toy Story" is coming in 2017, how much do you know about use of computer animation in film? Its history reaches further back than most suspect, and its dual use today-in live action and animated films-harkens back to the early 1980s.
Produced in 1972 it is believed to be the world's first computer-generated 3D animation. It was created by Ed Catmull, one of the founders of Pixar at the University of Utah.
